SHEPERD'S PIE - Pastel de Pastor


First fry a finely chopped onion in a deep frying pan until it softens. Add mince beef (pork or a mixture of pork and beef), use olive oil but not too much.

When the mince browns add spices (of your choice, salt and pepper) and a cube of oxo mixed with a little water and cook for 10 minutes.

Peel four or five potatoes and boil until soft, remove the water and add butter and milk, mash the potaotes until they have a creamy texture.

Put the mince and onions in a deep casserole dish (pyrex or any other suitable for the oven) Add dice carrots and peas (frozen or canned).

Make a cup of Bisto gravy (1 tablespoon in cold water) and add to the casserole.

Spread the mashed potato evenly over the meat until sealed.

Place in oven 220 grades for 20 minutes.

Et voilà! A delicious typical English dish.
